Singapore: An Introduction
For many Singapore is nothing more than a stopover point, a convenient destination to break the long flight home and perhaps squeeze in some good shopping. What a waste!
For those that take the time to dig a little deeper and perhaps stay a second (or third and fourth) night, Singapore is a city teeming with possibilities, a destination with something for everyone. The variety of food is exceptional, a fusion of cuisines from all over Southeast Asia and beyond, and available to everyone no matter what their budget; from the hawker stands to be found on every street corner to some of the world's finest-dining restaurants.
There is a rich mix of cultures and religions, interacting in every neighbourhood and in every office block. The city is dissected by several National Parks and along the coastline there are fine sandy beaches. It's clean and prosperous and on the streets you will walk past an wide array of architectures ranging from colonial grandeur to skyscrapers to Chinese shop-houses. In summary, Singapore is so much more than cheap cameras and a bed for the night!
