The latest offering from the team that gave us Bon Ton and the Temple Trees on nearby Langkawi Island, the Straits Collection comprises five ancient Chinese shop-houses, located within the UNESCO heritage site of Georgetown, Penang.
The houses have been restored to their former glory in keeping with the Bon Ton ethos; combining traditional Malay fabrics, an eclectic mix of antique furniture and carefully sourced decorative pieces. Accommodation is colourful and light, all thoughtfully designed around comfort and stylish individuality.
Location-wise, it doesn't get much better, as you are a short stroll from many of Georgetown's highlights, the closest being the aptly named Harmony Street where a Chinese Temple, an Indian Temple, an Islamic Mosque and a Christian Church all exist together on the one road.
The adjoining Little Kopi coffee shop serves up some very fine Italian beans, along with an extensive array of food throughout the day; the menu is a mixture of Western and Asian delights, all with an Italian twist. The desert menu is particular worth a close inspection!
