Most people will arrive in Pakbeng by boat, have travelled from either Huay Xai, on the Thai border, or Luang Prabang. The journey between these two points is to long (and enjoyable!) for a single day's cruise and breaking the journey in Pakbeng is the icing on the cake.

The Luang Say Cruise, travels along a particularly beautiful section of the Mekong, a river that begins high in the Himalaya and passes through seven countries before exiting through its sprawling delta in Southern Vietnam.

During your two day cruise you will, stop at minority villages and visit the wonderful Pak Ou Caves, housing literally thousands of Buddha statues. Throughout the journey you will pass numerous small communities, with children waving from the river banks and fisherman taking the days catch on small boats.

For those travelling south, there is the added bonus of arriving in Luang Prabang by river rather than air. The sun is usually low in the sky as you near ‘Jewel of Indochina’, a UNESCO designated World Heritage Site that is regularly voted as one of planets premier travel destinations. It's one of those iconic Asian moments that you'll likely to never forget.
