The Shangri Lao Classic Explorer Camp offers a new dimension to engaging with the wildlife & nature that surrounds Luang Prabang. Whilst far from being the first elephant camp in Laos, Shangri Lao is set to combine unique elephant expeditions with a touch of flair & luxury. Stately tents with wooden floors, 19th century furniture, traditional fabrics & en suite bathrooms, set amidst 300 hectares of primary jungle - we can't stop getting excited at the mere thought of it! Villagers from nearby Xieng Lom Village have been involved from the start; many are now working at the lodge or as mahouts (elephant keepers).
