Like no other journey you'll ever make
A very unique travel experience and certainly unlike any other we offer in Indochina, Way of the Mahout promises to take you well away from even the slightest scent of a beaten track. After enjoying the well documented charms of Luang Prabang, travel east to the riverside town of Nong Khiaw and on to Muang La taking time to enjoy the region's rich diversity and wealth of outdoor activities. All this and you've not even reached the highlight.
Having reached Hongsa, you'll spend 4 magical days travelling with your own caravan of Laos elephants. You will spend your time learning the incredible skills of the mahout. You'll bath, groom and feed your elephants, learn to give commands and 'drive' whilst passing through some simply breathtaking Laos panoramas. Finally, having spent your final night camped on the sand banks of the Mekong River, cruise south back to Luang Prabang where it all began.
Camp or stay with villagers, learning about their ancient ways of life, unaffected by the modern world.
