Introduction

Just an hour’s drive away from the busy streets of Chiang Mai you can find yourself amongst lush green valleys and mountain tracks. There are a number of minority tribe communities still living in these parts. One such tribe is the Lisu people that have managed to hold onto their cultural origins whilst also benefiting from their involvement in an exceptional responsible tourism project.
The award winning Lisu Lodge, opened in the 1990's, plays a big part in not only the preservation of the Lisu people's heritage but also making it accessible to the outside world in a controlled and responsible manner.
The lodge, staffed by Lisu people, offers comfortable accommodation in a truly authentic style whilst keeping one eye on the necessity for a few western-style comforts. Rooms are comfortable and set around a central meeting and socialising area. There is also a small 'Lahu outpost lodge' for trekkers not wishing to return back to base camp after just one night!
