Your Honeymoon in Malaysia

The stunning beaches of Malaysia

Malaysia is undoubtedly one of Asia's, perhaps the planets, finest and most established honeymoon destinations. Why? Simply because it does it so well. A honeymoon in Malaysia offers some of the worlds finest stretches of sand, year round sunshine (depending which island you choose), exceptional hotels and resorts and a mouthwatering fusion of Asian cuisines to ensure you don't return home under nourished.

Where to start

Initially you are likely to fly into Kuala Lumpur, the exhilarating metropolis that is Malaysia's capital. Whilst some honeymooners will want to make a beeline for a beach, most will settle in at one of the capitals delightful hotels for a night or two...the perfect way to recover from the weeks of preparation and the big day itself. We also recommend a visit to the cultural heart of the country; just two hours drive form KL, Melaka is an absolute delight and well worth a day or two of your time. For adventure and outdoors lovers Malaysia has a wealth of opportunities, the highlight perhaps being the Cameron Highlands were you can trek for days through the lush and temperate countryside or simply relax at one of the regions atmospheric hotels. Aside from this it is simply a case of selecting your beach!...this may well be dictated by the weather as each coast has a wet season which you'll obviously want to avoid. See further details of the Malay weather. We'll be happy to advise you on what options will be best suited to you.

Selective Asia's Favourite Honeymoon Hotels

Pangkor Laut Resort, Pangkor Laut Island. One of Malaysia's most secluded resorts, Pangkor Laut is set on it's own 300 acre private island offering its resindence one of the most romantic sanctuarys in Asia. If you need to unwind try the award winning Spa Village which will take you to another level of serenity! For those in the need of a little activity, grab a couple of canoes and explore the many coves and inlets that hug the island.

The Lakehouse, Cameron Highlands. Nestled amongst the hills, high up in the Cameron Highlands and overlooking a picturesque lake, this beautiful mock-tudor property is perfect for newly weds wanting to get away from the masses. With just 18 rooms and more charm than Nigel Havers this is a great choice for those who like to snuggle around a roaring fire after a day of exploring.

The Datai, Langkawi. Set back from it's private stretch of sand on the north west coast of Langkawi and surrounded by lush tropical forest, the Datai is a truly outstanding honeymoon resort. From the luxurious spa village to the infinity swimming pool, it will be hard to tear yourself away from one of the finest hotels in the world.

The Majestic, Melaka. The historical port of Melaka is must for any honeymooners in Malaysia and the Majestic Hotel is very much part of the experience. This stunning colonial hotel will allow you to escape from the hustle and bustle of this fascinating city, whilst offering luxurious pampering from a by-gone era.

Malaysia's Finest Honeymoon Beaches

Malaysia can quite rightly lay claim to more than just a handful of the Asia's finest beaches; it is literally teeming with world class stretches of sand. As previously mentioned your choice of island and resort may well be dictated by the date of your honeymoon with the beaches of the east being best avoided from November to late February and the beaches on the west getting heaviest rainfall between August and October.
Aside from the weather your choice of resort will be very personal with some honeymooners want to ensure a wide range of leisure activities and dining opportunities whilst others wish to escape from it all and hide away in one of Malaysia's more remote and exclusive destinations. Whatever your fancy Malaysia is likely to have have the perfect solution.

Where Else?

The Malay Peninsular combines well with both Borneo to the east and Thailand to the north. You may also decide to fly via Kuala Lumpur en route to an Indochinese destination such as Vietnam or Cambodia.
