    Thailand Holiday and Travel Reviews

    thailand holiday

With so many operators offering holidays and tours in Thailand it is very difficult to know who to turn to. Selective Asia do not specialise in package holidays on jam packed beaches, we do specialise in tailor-made tours and unique experiences and a number of our staff have not only travelled but lived in Thailand. No holiday in Thailand is complete without at least a few days on one of her stunning beaches but we will find the right one for you.

'The best website I've ever negotiated. It helped me decide where to go and who to use as a tour operator. My son thought as it was so good the cost would be out of their budget!'

    Sue T.

'Having returned recently from our holiday to Thailand, just a quick email to thank you and your colleagues for organising it all so well. Everything went very smoothly and the two guides were certainly characters, and we had a great time. I would recommend your company to others. We're not "beach people" at all but The Tubkaak Resort in Krabi was simply magical and one of our favourite hotels ever.'

    Paul D.

'We booked in rather a last-minute, not well- researched rush and, therefore, depended on the SA staff's experience and ended up with an excellent itinerary.'

    Barbara and David H.

' Our consultant really took the time to find out what we wanted from the holiday - the itinerary, type of hotels, etc. And his local knowledge of Thailand meant that he could offer informed suggestions about the trip. I've already recommended both him & Selective Asia to a number of friends & work colleagues who are thinking of planning trips in the next year!!
Where to start? It was all great. It was evident that we only 'scratched the surface' of the number of things to see in Bangkok, but this was balanced by the range of other sites we saw during the rest of the tour. We were only in Bangkok for 3 days after all!!!!'

    Liz D.

'Phil was exceptionally helpful and friendly to work with in organising our honeymoon
Cheow Larn lake is a must, and we were lucky to get our own rafthouse at the floating rafthouses for the afternoon of swimming and kayaking.
There's a great restaurant by the democracy monument, and Vertigo is a must for sunset if you can get there through the traffic!! An amazing holiday. Wish we'd had longer.'

Our team of experienced professional guides and support staff will make the difference between an average holiday and a truly memorable one. And, in the rare event of a problem, you know you are in good hands.

'Just to let you know that we have returned and had a fantastic holiday.
Please can you let your Thailand office know that the guide - Jack (don't know his Thai name) and the driver were excellent and couldn't do enough for us, they deserve a pat on the back!'
    Mrs Helen G.

' Our guide Jac and driver Od were excellent. They added visits either at their suggestion or ours and did everythig they could to give us an enjoyable holiday. It is often how issues are dealt with that distiguishes the quality of organisations. Although our pick up at Koh Samui didn't go as planned, the airport staff and emergency number you provided in Bangkok meant that this problem was dealt with effectively. Highlights of our holiday, am I allowed 3 - Blue elephant cookery school, the tiger temple (River Kwai, added by guide at our request), feeding elephants at Anantara Golden Triangle.'

    Janice S.

'Really impressed and pleased with the great service provided. Nick really knew the country, places and things to do and avoid! Really helped us to get home via Bangkok when the airport closed!!! Thanks.'

    Ian and Anne-Marie B.

'Nick was v quick to make contact about the problems in Bangkok, we were watching the situation closely anyway, but it was v reasurring to know that the company had made contact with us! Lionel was also v quick to respond to my email during the holiday-so thanks both, it was appreciated! All our guides were helpful & informative during the trip, but especially a big thank you to Pasith Kasuya, who's infectious laugh had us smiling throughout our time in Bangkok & on the journey to & from Hua Hin.'

There are so many hotels to choose from and so many websites offer conflicting advice and often fake or misleading reviews. Our staff have been there, personally inspected the hotels, and often slept in the beds.

'The Siam Heritage in Bangkok & the Yaang Come Village in Chiang Mai were both very good. The only little glit ch was that the Teak Garden Spa did not appear to have a record of our booking. Our guide sorted everything out for us though. Our friends got married in Chiang Mai so we saw a whole Buddhist Wedding Ceremony, the Grand Palace was as ornate & colourful as Wat Rung Khun was beautiful in it's whiteness, & the Cruise on the Manohra Song was brilliant (way too much food though!!!)'

    Liz D.

'Seeing the Anantara Chiang Rai by night for the first time, wow. Anantara Samui didn't seem quite so stunning, or exclusive, which is largely a factor of location I appreciate. Old Lamphoon road by night in a tuk-tuk (chiang mai), a great opportunity to get a true feel for Thai life.' . Thanks for tailoring such a perfect holiday - it was seemless from start to finish and we can't wait to go back!'
    Sarah and Tim B

'We visited a lot of temples, but was it good to have the afternoons free as we were suffering from jet lag so we used that time to catch up on some sleep! We felt that the insight into local life was the best feature! There was a good variety of different activities, though maybe this could be mixed in better, rather than seeing temple after temple on one day, have a break to see elephants or something, but I guess the logistics doesn’t necessarily work for this.'

We stopped at a scenic waterfall – one look at the pained expressions of those who’d voluntarily chosen to be pummelled by the thundering icy water, I quickly decided to nominate myself ‘group photographer’, and captured everything on film from the safety of the riverbank. The scenery was breathtaking as we climbed higher up the mountain, but a few hours later we were glad to collapse at our first mountain camp. Our bed was a bamboo platform in a shared hut with a ample blankets for warmth. Whilst some of the local hill people cooked our meal of chicken and locally grown vegetables, we lifted the spirits with some rice wine and singing from the local children oh… and a few verses from us, of course. By the end of the night, we had our own version of the Eurovision song contest going.'
