The Company

What are the key differences between you and other operators?

We dont know of any other company that offers such a combination of well constructed and innovative itineraries. Our # 1 aim is to ensure that all our guests experience a region rather than just pass through it. We offer a style of travel that ensures you dont miss any of the good bits and whilst we obviously ensure the itineraries are great value, this is never at the expense of your experience.

Is my money safe with you?

We are an ATOL bonded agent and therefore any packages booked with us are protected under our ATOL agreement. This means that in the unlikely event of Selective Asia becoming insolvent, your money is protected by the CAA. For further details - click here

The trips

Are these group tours?

Not at all. At Selective Asia we run only private trips, providing you with your own driver and guide. There may well be times when you are on board a boat or in a transfer bus with others, but the majority of the time it will just be you and your choice of companions.

Will we get much free time or is it a strict itinerary?

The activities included are scheduled to a rough timetable, however this is your holiday and you dictate the pace and points of interest. One of the great advantages of not travelling with a group is that you dont have others waiting for you and, in turn, you dont wait for them. For example, if you want more time to enjoy Hanois Old Quarter and you dont mind missing out on one of the halls at the Temple of Literature then thats what youll do.

Will I have the same guide throughout the trip?

In some instances yes and in some no. You will be benefiting from the attention of local guides in all the regions you visit and therefore there will be changes as you move through a country or countries. After all, a guide from Bangkok will not necessarily be able to tell you all there is to know about Phnom Penh.

Is there an age limit for these trips?

No there is not. We offer a wide range of itineraries, meaning that there is always going to be a trip to suit everyones abilities and preferences. We also offer a full range of family itineraries that are specifically created with young children in mind.

Are these trips more expensive than group tours?

In most cases they are cheaper. By dealing with Selective Asia you are dealing directly with the operator, rather than going via a travel agent. We offer you expertise and local know-how whilst you make the savings.

What is the minimum and maximum group size?

How long is a piece of string?! We can arrange travel plans for an individual and we can provide for groups of over 100 if required.

If you wish to travel alone; let us know the itinerary you are interested in or the specific destinations you would like to visit and we will put a programme together for you.

For large groups; our ability to provide bespoke trips means that we can create almost any trip, for any group size. In these instances we aim to provide you with a quote within two working days.

Can I bring the children?

In short yes! We offer a range of specifically created family holidays. These trips offer the perfect balance of activities and free time for all the family to enjoy. You get to see the sites and pursue your interests, whilst there is plenty for the kids as wellwater parks, elephant riding, river rafting to name a few.

How will I be getting around?

I have not travelled in Asia before will I like it?

You have certainly conytacted the right operator. Our carefully constructed itineraries will show you the very best of the countries you are visiting, whilst making the trip a safe and stress free experience.

I cannot speak any Asian language, is this a problem?

Absolutely not. Firstly you are with your guide and he or she is your key to the region. You will also find that English and in places, French, is widely spoken with varying degrees of proficiency.

Will the children like Asia?

Asia is an ideal destination for children, they will undoubtedly find it fascinating. The entire region is overflowing with unbelievable temples and amazing historical sites (that they actually get to interact with, rather than stand behind a rope as is the case throughout much of Europe) as well as a range of exciting activities such as elephant trekking and river-rafting. A Selective Asia journey will bring geography lessons alive and introduce the young to new cultures.

What if I dont like the Asian food?

Firstly wed be surprised, but it wouldnt be the first time, so dont worry; throughout Asia it is never hard to find some dishes youll be more accustomed to. This may be a little harder on some of our more adventurous trips that include activities such as village-stays. In these instances you may want to take a few packs of plain noodles just in case it is easy to purchase these locally.
