Being a travel operator that offers family holidays as one of our specialist themes, we are well aware of the care and attention required to ensure the happiness and well-being of children when travelling.
In our opinion the perfect family holiday is one that offers a well balanced blend of day-to-day activities that allows both young and older people to really enjoy their experiences together.
We recognise that our style of trip is not the average ‘week at the beach’ traditionally taken by young families and have therefore answered the following questions that immediately come to mind:
Which Selective Asia holidays are suitable for children?
There is only one true judge of this: you, the parent or guardian. You know your child’s likes, dislikes and abilities and therefore only you can judge what is, and what isn’t a suitable itinerary.
We would suggest, especially with younger children, that you keep to the family holiday itineraries we offer as they are created specifically with children and parents in mind. However your choice is not limited to these; we can amend any itinerary for you.
What is the cost of taking children?
There are discounts available in almost all cases for children on our holidays.
The prices displayed on this webite are per adult. The cost for any children travelling will vary depending on their age and your room requirements (i.e. extra beds, family suites or adjoining rooms). We will be happy to advise you on this and create a tailor-made quote for your family.
Flights
All airlines follow the same guidelines with children. ‘Infants’ are aged between 0 and 1 (inclusive), ‘children’ are those between the ages of 2 and 11 (inclusive). Anyone aged 12 or above will be charged at a full adult fare.
Is Asia a suitable place to take children?
Very much so….in general, western children absolutely love their time in the region and learn a huge amount from their experience. In the case of older children, geography and history lessons will come alive, young children will be absolutely doted on by Asian women who cannot resist some interaction…should you wish, there would be no shortage of babysitters!
What about vaccinations and medical requirements?
This is something that you should look into very carefully. Your children will undoubtedly be requiring vaccinations and protection from malaria. It is often advised that children of a very young age should not receive certain vaccinations or take malaria tablets. Please consult your GP or doctor for further information.
Will my children require passports and entry visas?
Yes to both. You will need to contact your national passport office for the former and obtain visas, as with yourselves, for the latter.
What if they don’t like the food?
Food is often a concern. Many children do not have adventurous palates. For that reason, the family itineraries we offer, will include more restaurants that offer a western/international menu as well as local cuisine.
What to do if you are not still sure?
Contact us with any specific requests you may have. If we don’t think the trip is suitable, then that’s what we’ll tell you - there’s always next year!
