Get close to Cambodia'a amazing birdlife at Preak Toal

Best visited between Nov & Jan, Preak Toal is just a few hours from Siem Reap but feels a million miles away. A fascinating floating village & one a crucial breeding ground for SE Asia’s endangered birds, Preak Toal offers a spectacular day away from the temples, guaranteed to impress the novice just as much as the expert twitcher. During our recent visit we found ourselves surrounded by Pelicans, Painted Storks, Brahiminy kites, Grand Marabouts, White Throated Kingfishers, Purple Swan Hens & Black Head Ibises. The day’s programme is very dependent on the water level, which affects the time required to reach the bio-sphere’s centre.
