With its traditional teak buildings and lush greenery, the Thazin Garden Hotel is reminiscent of a rambling rural residence. Situated in Bagan’s thriving ‘new town’, the Thazin Garden is just a short tuk-tuk - or even pony - ride from all the new town restaurants, where you’ll find very good, cheap traditional Myanmar cuisine.
The guest rooms are sweetly decorated, homely but generously sized. Some have balconies and they all overlook either the gardens or the old pagoda situated in the main lawn. The rooms are let down a little by their rather basic bathrooms, but there’s a nice outdoor pool and a cocktail terrace with lovely views over the plain.
