For us this is one of Bagan's hidden gems - located close enough to the hustle and bustle of Bagan ‘new town’ to be convenient, but still retaining a tranquil ambience. The Kumudara Hotel offers something of an oasis after a hot and dusty day exploring the temples that surround it.
Although it’s laid out around a somewhat unimpressive central garden, once you step inside you’ll start to understand why we love the place so much. The rooms have a slightly contemporary edge, with large windows looking out over several nearby temples and pagodas. The junior suites and suites are very impressive and certainly worth the extra in our opinion, with the increased size and outdoor space giving them a great advantage.
Elsewhere the hotel has a nice pool and terrace to the rear of the hotel, again with impressive temple views, as well as a restaurant selling well-received European, Thai and Burmese cuisine.
