Rungus Longhouse Kudat - Traditional Longhouse (home stay) Back

In our opinion, an important part of any holiday in Sabah is a visit to a traditional Rungus longhouse. Often housing as many as 20 or 30 families within their long wooden walls, this traditional form of tribal housing is an entire community under one roof. Each family has its own section of the longhouse, often comprising of several rooms, including a kitchen and seperate sleeping quarters. The communal focus is always on the large communal area , where the various residents will eat and socialise together on a daily basis.

Longhouse facilities are undoubtedly basic, but they are safe and clean and most guests agree that a night in a longhouse is amongst the highlights of their holiday in Sabah.
