Selective Asia blogger competition – “An Asian Experience to remember”
An Asian Experience To Remember – Competition Announcement!
Many thanks for all the wonderful entries into our writing competition, we certainly enjoyed reading about all your different experiences you’ve had in Asia! It was a tough decision, but we are pleased to announce that the winner of the competition is: www.laughlotstraveloften.com who we felt really captured the essence of the competition. There were strong contenders for the winners spot and you can read a brief description of these along with the links to the full articles on their sites below.
Laugh Lots, Travel Often (@LaughAndTravel)
We especially loved our winning entry because of its novel trinity of authors - the "three little pigs" who share their travels with each other and offer their readers three unique viewpoints in one intriguing blog. Their trio of memorable Asia moments are thoughtful, funny, well-written and real, capturing the magical spontaneity that keeps us returning to Asia ourselves. Great photos, too! We hope the three piggies enjoyed their recent Thai beach holiday as much as all their previous adventures. Congratulations, ladies!

Bohemian Travellers (@TravelBohemian)
Coming in a close second, we love how Bohemian Travellers show everyone that exploring Asia is not just for gap year kids. Asia is brilliant for families, too, and it's remarkably easy to travel there with youngsters, who are perpetually mesmerised by the ever-shifting array of sights, smells, sounds and experiences they'll encounter round every bend. Perhaps not all parents will feel intrepid enough to trust their child's safety to the tuk-tuk driver! But Asia is actually very safe for kids, who're usually guaranteed to get fussed over and make friends everywhere they go.

This Battered Suitcase (@SuitcaseBrenna)
What a wonderful memory of Sri Lanka. This lovely experience absolutely sums up SL for us, too - the contrast of quiet paradise beach with remarkable natural sights, and the spontaneous burst of community activity - not to mention the warm, open-hearted Sri Lankan hospitality and the fantastic food that so often comes with it!

Our Oyster (@our_oyster)
This is a perfect snapshot of the real Asia that we strive to share with our clients - seeing what life is really like for the people who live here, along with that sense of adventure that comes with stepping into the unknown. The floating markets are an iconic sight on the Mekong Delta, yet they're daily life for so many - as essential, in fact, as a British supermarket, but (in our opinion), far, far more interesting.

K and K Adventures (@KandKadventure)
Great pictures and a fun story made this one of our favourites. Unexpected discoveries, astonishing natural beauty, and the kindness (most of the time) of strangers - this is what makes travelling in Asia so memorable... although we suggest that you carry more water with you next time you plunge into the undergrowth on a tropical adventure!

Well done to all

Experience, Share, Inspire.
Who can conjure up the magic and mysticism of the temples of Cambodia? Who can best translate the sights, smells and sounds of the markets of Bangkok? Who can transport someone from the hustle and bustle of their office in the city to the tranquillity and beauty of a Malaysian beach with just a few words? Or simply put…who will win our competition by inspiring others through sharing their Asia experience?
At Selective Asia we are passionate about Asia. Our number 1 priority is to ensure our customers don't just visit Asia... they experience Asia, and now we’re calling on all you travel writers out there to help us. You can win an Ipad 3 – it should come in handy on your next journey. Additionally, you can gain exposure and visitors for your blog from the Selective Asia site.
Not all of us have been lucky enough to visit Asia, and even less have experienced all of the magical places within this continent. Our competition is aimed at inspiring people to take a first visit to Asia, or to visit a new Asian destination. This isn’t about writing another destination guide, it’s about unforgettable memories or for those who haven’t been, about an experience waiting to happen that is high on your travel wish list.
To enter the competition, please write in no less than 200 words about an “An Asian experience to remember”, and post on your own blog. Simply include a link in your piece to any page from the Selective Asia website (http://www.selectiveasia.com), doing so in whichever way you feel best appropriate to add value to your post.
Entrants must email the link to their blog post together with their contact details to competition@selectiveasia.com by the 30th October 2012. The winner will be announced on 14th November 2012 selected by our very own Nick Pulley.
