"Life is a foreign language; all men mispronounce it." - Christopher Morleys.
Language barriers are, quite understandably, often some travellers’ greatest concerns when it comes to planning a trip abroad. Will you be able to get by? How will you be able to find anything out? How can you understand a menu? How can you ask for directions?
The good news is that Asia is not going to cause you a problem on this front.
In many of the destinations you visit, you may be pleasantly surprised by the level of English that is spoken by some, especially younger members of the communities. In fact, in much of Indochina you will find that many older people will still speak a little French…parlez vous Français?
Our guests have the obvious advantage of travelling with their own local guide. They will offer you the great opportunity to open up conversations with any locals you come across on your travels. All our guides speak a good level of English (other languages can usually be catered for upon request).
Most of the menus you encounter will be written in local dialect and in English...in some cases they will be written in 3 or 4 European languages.
