Vietnam Honeymoons

There’s something for everyone in Vietnam, which explains why it’s our most popular honeymoon destination. Whether your idea of romance is lying side-by-side on a beach or lapping up the culture in a busy metropolis, this captivating country will sweep you off your feet.

Vietnam is S-shaped, which lends itself to being travelled through. Most start at one end and emerge at the other, tanned and content. With over 3,000km of coastline running almost the entire length of the country, you won’t be short of beach options (and with three separate weather systems running throughout Vietnam, there’s almost always sunshine somewhere).

There’s culture on tap in Hanoi or the UNESCO-protected towns of Hue and Hoi An, and outdoor adventure in abundance. You’ll find world-class hotels and resorts throughout the country, from stunning beach resorts to boutique city-centre hotels.

Why choose Vietnam?

  • Hoi An is a big draw and not to be missed, even when the centre of the country is in its wet season. Whilst development along the road to Danang, with its superb beaches, has admittedly been significant, the UNESCO protected along town still retains its significant charm, especially when the tour groups have gone home.
  • If relaxation is going to be the order of your honeymoon, head off to island of Phu Quoc in the far south or the more established resorts of Phan Thiet & Mui Ne or Nha Trang
  • For honeymooners wanting to see some of the country away from the main cities and tourist hotspots, the Reunification Express offers a great way to travel. Other than the most committed rail enthusiasts, most would agree that one leg is enough with an overnight journey only adding to the appeal.
  • Consider first how much you want to travel and how many destinations you’d like to visit. Maybe you want to spend the first few days of your honeymoon in Vietnam exploring Hanoi’s Old Quarter before heading south to the beaches and cultural hot spot of Hoi An.
  • If relaxation is going to be the order of your honeymoon, head off to the up-and-coming island of Phu Quoc in the far south or the more established resorts of Phan Thiet & Mui Ne or Nha Trang
  • Water lovers can cruise Halong Bay on a traditional junk or meander the waterways of the Mekong Delta on a private sampan.
  • For the more adventurous, there’s trekking in Sapa and Mai Chau, cycling opportunities all over the country, and even a night-time Vespa tour through scintillating Saigon.

Vietnam combines particularly well with Cambodia. Laos & Thailand also work well.

Nothing was too much trouble

'Nuoc, our guide in Hanoi and the north, was outstanding; nothing was too much trouble. He even had his daughters come and meet us after school and they handed over a honeymoon card which half their class had signed!'

Halong Bay

Halong Bay, with its picturesque scenery and wooden junks, is an essential inclusion in any Vietnam honeymoon. It's busier than it used to be, but once you've chartered your own private junk for a couple of nights you can pretty much set the pace, and can explore bays and backwaters that the larger shared boats cannot reach.

There are several private junks to choose from, and they're all extremely romantic. You'll be accompanied by a crew, of course - someone has to steer the ship and cook the meals while you're relaxing. But they're well trained and very discrete, so nobody will disturb you!
