Vietnam Honeymoons

There’s something for everyone in Vietnam, which explains why it’s our most popular honeymoon destination. Whether your idea of romance is lying side-by-side on a beach or lapping up the culture in a busy metropolis, this captivating country will sweep you off your feet.

Vietnam is S-shaped, which lends itself to being travelled through. Most start at one end and emerge at the other, tanned and content. With over 3,000km of coastline running almost the entire length of the country, you won’t be short of beach options (and with three separate weather systems running throughout Vietnam, there’s always sunshine somewhere). There’s culture on tap in Hanoi or the UNESCO-protected towns of Hue and Hoi An, and outdoor adventure in abundance. And you’ll find world-class hotels throughout the country, from stunning beach resorts to boutique city-centre hotels.

Where to start

Consider first how much you want to travel and how many destinations you’d like to visit. Maybe you want to spend the first few days of your honeymoon in Vietnam exploring Hanoi’s Old Quarter before heading south to the beaches and cultural hot spot of Hoi An.

If relaxation is going to be the order of your honeymoon, head off to the up-and-coming island of Phu Quoc in the far south or the more established resorts of Phan Thiet & Mui Ne or Nha Trang. Water lovers can cruise Halong Bay on a traditional junk or meander the waterways of the Mekong Delta on a private sampan. For the more adventurous, there’s trekking in Sapa and Mai Chau, cycling opportunities all over the country, and even a night-time Vespa tour in scintillating Saigon.

Ultimate Honeymoon Hotels

Sofitel Legend Metropole

Sofitel Legend Metropole, Hanoi

Luxury Vietnam honeymoons

Meticulously furnished in a French Colonial style, the Sofitel Metropole has been a famous landmark in Hanoi since it first opened its doors in 1901. If you’re thinking of spoiling yourself, you won’t be disappointed – the rooms are beautifully appointed, right down to the silk kimonos thoughtfully provided for you. A couple of nights at the Sofitel can provide the perfect start or finish to your honeymoon.

Anantara Hoi An Resort & Spa

Anantara Hoi An Resort & Spa

You can't get a more convenient Hoi An location than the Anantara Resort: set on the scenic Thu Bon River, only a short walk from the town’s most popular sites and renowned restaurants. With a riverfront swimming pool, cosy spa and relaxed charm, it's our go-to recommendation for honeymooners in this atmospheric town.

Mango Bay

Mango Bay, Phu Quoc.

Beach at Mango Bay, Phu Quoc Island

Mango Bay is perhaps the perfect honeymoon resort; relaxed, informal, discreet, and almost a million miles from home! Set on a virtually deserted beach on the island of Phu Quoc, this rustic, chic, eco-friendly resort offers the perfect island hideaway without breaking the bank.

Fusion Maia

Fusion Maia, Danang

Breakfast anytime, anywhere

If one hotel screams out “HONEYMOON” more than any other then it has to be Fusion Maia in Danang. With all-inclusive spa treatments, and every villa boasting a private pool and courtyard, this is definitely one to consider. Throw in 'breakfast anytime anywhere', miles of beach and easy proximity to the old town of Hoi An, and we think you may agree.

Six Senses Con Dao

Six Senses Con Dao

Six Senses Con Dao

If the budget allows (and it will have to allow for a lot!) then Six Senses Con Dao is the resort that's currently turning heads in Indochina. Located on the idyllic sands of Con Son, this uber-luxurious resort is the ultimate choice for honeymooners wanting to avoid the busier sands on the mainland. Think glass fronted villas, private infinity pools, picture-perfect coastline, calming and minimalist interiors.

Mai Chau Eco Lodge

Mai Chau Eco Lodge, Mai Chau Valley

The best honeymoon itineraries always include a few days exploring Vietnam's 'great outdoors' and where better to use as a base than the Mai Chau Eco Lodge. Set amongst paddy fields just three hours from Hanoi, the Mai Chau Valley is a true escape from the congestion of the hectic city streets. Enjoy walking, cycling, exploring hilltribe villages and relaxing by the pool.

Private Halong Bay Junk

Private Junk Boat, Halong Bay

Private Halong Bay Junk

Not technically a ‘hotel’, but an overnight cruise on Halong Bay is an essential inclusion in any Vietnam honeymoon. Rather than share the experience with other passengers, book a private junk and you’ll get the whole boat to yourselves (besides a discreet crew). As well as exclusivity, you’ll be able to customise your itinerary and sail more off the common route.

‘We loved the variety that Vietnam offered us, from the perfect start on a delta sampan to the final few days at Mango Bay on Phu Quoc. Everything in-between worked seamlessly and the food was every bit as good as you said it would be.’
