Malaysia Honeymoons

With its long-standing reputation as a magical destination for couples, there’s lots to love about Malaysia. One of South East Asia’s most established honeymoon destinations, Malaysia is the perfect place to wind down after a wedding. For newlyweds, it ticks all the ‘dream holiday’ boxes: you’ll find some of the world’s finest stretches of sand; the choice of hotels and resorts is exceptional; there’s enough to keep even the most adventurous bride and groom entertained, from pristine rainforests and tea plantations to its cool capital city, Kuala Lumpur; and, of course, there’s the food, a mouth-watering fusion of Asian cuisines.

Still need persuading? There’s also the promise of year-round sunshine, depending on which island you choose to visit, which makes Malaysia unique to South East Asia.

Where to start

You’re likely to fly into Kuala Lumpur, the exhilarating metropolis that is Malaysia’s capital. While some honeymooners will prefer to make a beeline for the beach, most will settle in at one of the capital’s delightful hotels for a day or two – it’s the perfect place to get your first taste of Malaysia. We also recommend a visit to the cultural heart of the country, Melaka, just two hours’ drive from KL. It’s an absolute delight, providing a rare glimpse of the ancient Malay kingdom that once flourished there.

For adventure, there are the Cameron Highlands, where you can trek through the lush countryside or relax at one of the region’s atmospheric hotels. And then comes the hard bit: choosing a beach. This may be dictated by the weather as each coast has a wet season, which you’ll want to avoid. See further details for the Malay weather or ask one of our Selective Asia honeymoon planners, who will be able to advise you on where will best suit you.
